To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my interest in the elementary teaching positions currently open for the 2016-2017 academic year.
As my attached résumé indicates, I have had a diverse range of teaching opportunities, giving me the confidence to lead all students to academic and social excellence. I have worked with a wide variety of students of all ages, races, academic abilities, and social experiences in my four years as a 3rd grade teacher, as well as in my time student teaching and during my study abroad in Japan. With each teaching role, I have developed creative and interactive lesson for my students. In my current position at Lansing Charter Academy, I have also found ways to differentiate my instruction to meet the diverse needs of my students. I hold a Masters in Literacy Education, and believe my knowledge of this concentration allows me to aide students who need additional support and challenge students who are already successful.
In addition, I am confident in my ability to reach out to parents and families to include them in their child’s education. I believe keeping open lines of communication with families is a key component in the success of my students. While I have engaged the parents of my own students, I have also helped organize Parent University events at Lansing Charter as a way for parents to learn more about our curriculum tools and ways to help their child at home.
While I am fiercely passionate about teaching young children, I also see myself as an outgoing and involved member of a community. As you may notice, I have experience with a variety of extra-curricular activities and would love the chance support students in programs outside of school. My experience playing soccer and my knowledge of the game would allow me to be a valuable member of the coaching staff.
While I am sure you will have many applicants for any open positions, I would be honored to meet with a member of your staff and discuss the possibility of joining your teaching community. I believe I would be a positive addition in keeping the high standards your school has set for academic merit. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Coontz
